Apple confirms limited iPhone Duo stock in stores this Friday
Apple will sell its first foldable phone to walk-in customers on launch day, but only in limited quantities at select locations.
Apple Stores will have limited iPhone Duo stock available for walk-in customers on Friday, October 23, the company confirmed in a statement to MacRumors on Wednesday. Availability will vary by country, and Apple said it is working to get phones to buyers as quickly as possible.
The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 in the US. Pre-orders opened on October 16 and sold out online within minutes, with delivery dates slipping to late January within the first half hour. Apple called demand for the phone nothing short of extraordinary.
In the US, Canada, Mexico, Australia and much of Europe, stores will offer both pickup for online orders and sales to customers without pre-orders. In China, France, India, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong and the UAE, only customers who already bought online can pick up a phone.
Apple has not said how many phones each store will receive. Store pickup reservations were briefly available when pre-orders opened, then disappeared. Apple's online store has told shoppers to check back on Saturday, October 24 for store pickup reservations, though it has not promised stock that day.
