EA confirms Star Wars Battlefront 3 is in development with Respawn and DICE
EA executives confirmed the long-awaited sequel is actively in development as a collaboration between Respawn and DICE studios.
EA has officially confirmed that Star Wars Battlefront 3 is in active development. Cam Weber, EA's president and chief studios officer, and David Tinson, president and COO, announced the publisher is bringing together Respawn and DICE studios to collaborate on a future project.
Variety reports that multiple sources confirmed the project is Star Wars Battlefront 3 for Lucasfilm Games. The confirmation comes as EA sees strong success with first-person live-service shooters, particularly Battlefield 6.
The announcement debunks earlier rumors from Electronic Gaming Monthly that suggested Bungie was in talks to develop the game. The previous report claimed Lucasfilm was searching for a development partner for the sequel.
It has been almost a decade since Star Wars Battlefront 2 released in 2017. Respawn is also working on Jedi 3, the next chapter in the Jedi game series.
