Witchbrook releases on January 28, 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox and PC. Developer Chucklefish confirmed the release date during Nintendo's Indie World Showcase on October 28, 2026, alongside a new gameplay trailer.
The announcement ends nearly a decade of waiting for the magical life sim, which was first teased in 2016 before receiving its official name in 2018. The game was previously expected to launch in winter 2025 but was delayed to give developers additional time to refine its world and gameplay.
Witchbrook takes players to the seaside town of Mossport, where they enroll at Witchbrook College to study magic and begin their journey as a witch. The game combines magical education with everyday activities, exploration and social interactions in detailed pixel-art environments.
Players can attend classes and learn spells, build relationships with townspeople, pursue romance and decorate their own woodland cottage. The game supports online cooperative multiplayer for up to four players, allowing friends to explore the town together, practice magic and race around on broomsticks.
Chucklefish confirmed that Witchbrook will be available through Xbox Game Pass on launch day. The latest trailer highlights the game's pixel-art environments, broomstick travel, magical classrooms and various locations throughout Mossport.
