Starbucks has closed 37 locations across Canada as part of a restructuring plan announced in September 2026. The closures affect stores from Toronto to British Columbia and are part of a wider effort impacting approximately 250 North American locations.

The company says the closures are part of its Back to Starbucks strategy, which focuses on improving the coffeehouse experience and making business operations more sustainable. Starbucks reviewed the financial performance of its stores and closed locations that could not meet expectations or had no clear path towards acceptable financial performance.

The closures affected both new and longtime locations. Toronto's Starbucks at 485 Church Street, which had been serving customers since at least 1999, was among the stores that shut down.

Starbucks has not released individual financial figures for every affected Canadian location. The company says the closures are part of restructuring efforts rather than an exit from the Canadian market.
