Rockstar Games has started distributing review codes for GTA 6 to select media outlets, according to Insider Gaming. The review embargo is set for November 18, one day before the game launches on November 19.

The codes were reportedly sent in October 2025, giving reviewers more than three weeks of exclusive access before the wider release. The timing suggests Rockstar is confident in media reception even with reviews going live ahead of launch.

Rockstar's Rob Nelson told IGN the game represents a major advancement in open world gameplay, world scale, population density and NPC interactions. He said players will notice the density of traffic and pedestrians, and how characters respond to the player.

Nelson discussed balancing freedom with narrative in GTA 6, acknowledging that certain story moments require more guidance than others. He said the team worked to keep the experience as open as possible while maintaining quality, with the game's systems working together to create frequent spontaneous events.

GTA 6 launches November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, with a PC release expected in the first quarter of 2027. The game features dual protagonists Jason and Lucia in a crime-driven plot set in Vice City.
