Apple's iPhone Duo includes StandBy mode feature missing from Android foldables
The iPhone Duo automatically activates StandBy mode when left slightly open, displaying time, weather, calendar events and photos.
Apple's iPhone Duo includes a StandBy mode feature that activates automatically when the device is left slightly open in tent mode or horizontally. The feature allows users to customize what appears on screen, including time, weather forecasts, calendar events and photos.
PhoneArena review content lead Victor Hristov called the feature a brilliant example of Apple's design approach. He noted that no Android phone maker has created something similar in eight years of modern foldable phone history.
The feature works when the iPhone Duo is positioned in tent mode with either the cover screen or main screen. Non-folding Pro iPhones have had a similar feature for years, but it was only available in specific conditions.
PCMag senior writer Florence Ion said early reviews and buyer reactions to the iPhone Duo are polarized. She noted that complaints focus on what the device cannot do rather than what Apple got right with its first foldable.
