Final Fantasy 14 director Naoki Yoshida announced at Tokyo Fanfest that the Evercold expansion will now release on February 23, 2027, a few weeks later than originally planned.

Yoshida explained that the delay was necessary due to the major gameplay changes coming in the 8.0 expansion. Certain aspects of the development process took more time than initially anticipated, prompting him to make the executive decision to extend the timeline.

The director stated that the game would have been just barely ready for the original launch date, but the team found several issues that still need addressing. He said the delay was needed to bring the game to a level of quality the team is satisfied with.

The announcement came during the opening keynote at the final leg of the Fanfest circuit in Tokyo, following the conclusion of Dawntrail's story. The event also featured details about revamped gameplay, character customization, and Evercold's second combat job.
