Saros is getting its first major update today with Saros: Zenith, a free expansion that adds new features for both newcomers and veteran players. Developer Housemarque announced the update in a PlayStation Blog post.

The update introduces accessibility features including Slow Game Speed, which lets players adjust the speed of enemy bullet patterns. Players can control how much the game slows down and set it to manual toggle or automatic activation when projectiles appear. The studio says it balanced making the game easier against maintaining its core identity.

Zenith also adds Auto-fire, which makes characters automatically fire at enemies players are aiming at. Housemarque notes that players still need to reload manually and perfect reloads still require a well-timed button press.

For veteran players, the update adds Overlord Rush, a boss rush mode featuring three different sets of battles. The Incursion and Ascension sets each contain three Overlords, while Totality has players battle all eight bosses in a row.

The update brings 10 new Protection Modifiers and 10 Trial Modifiers. One example is Corruption Melee Enhancement, which expels Corruption to grant a damage boost on close-range strikes.

Zenith also introduces Eclipse Layers, a New Game Plus mode that unlocks after clearing the game. New nodes appear in the Armor Matrix in the Passage hub area, letting players pass through a gate to the next Eclipse Layer. In this mode, Arjun wears a crown and golden armor that grows larger as players add more modifiers.
