CD Projekt announces surprise Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.5 launching October 22

CD Projekt announced a surprise update to Cyberpunk 2077 launching Thursday, October 22. The Edgerunners 2 Update, version 2.5, will feature content inspired by the anime series.
The developer confirmed the update will include new items and features, teasing cyberware customization, a new dual-wielding playstyle, and more chrome options. Associate game director Paweł Sasko said the team is hyped about what they cooked for players.
CD Projekt will reveal more details about the update on October 21 during a special REDstreams episode, with patch notes scheduled for the same day. The free update launches across PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, with the Nintendo Switch 2 release to follow shortly.
The announcement comes after CD Projekt said in May it had no plans for further Cyberpunk 2077 DLCs or expansions. The game has sold 40 million copies since its December 2020 launch and received one expansion, 2023's Phantom Liberty starring Idris Elba.
