A native Nintendo Switch 2 version of Minecraft launched on October 27, 2026, bringing enhanced visual features to Nintendo's newer console. The edition supports Vibrant Visuals, which Mojang Studios describes as the game's biggest visual graphics update to date.

The graphics mode introduces reflective water, volumetric fog and directional lighting that moves as the sun crosses the sky. Vibrant Visuals originally debuted on supported platforms in June 2025, but the native Switch 2 edition marks its arrival on Nintendo's console.

The update changes how light and atmosphere appear without altering core gameplay. Players can still mine materials, craft tools, explore and build across procedurally generated worlds in both Survival and Creative modes.

Minecraft has sold more than 425 million copies since its full release in 2011, making it the best-selling video game of all time. The franchise has expanded into spin-off games and a movie adaptation.
